About the Role:
As a Global Payroll Manager, you will play a pivotal leadership role overseeing the end-to-end delivery of payroll operations across EMEA, North America and Asia. Reporting to the Director of Accounting and Financial Reporting in Dublin, you will ensure that all payroll cycles are executed accurately, compliantly, and timely for our international workforce. Your responsibilities will include managing a payroll team in our Dublin and Sri Lanka hubs, optimizing payroll processes, and collaborating closely with HR, Finance, and external partners. You will drive the implementation of best practices, uphold regulatory compliance across multiple jurisdictions, and proactively resolve complex payroll matters, enabling seamless payroll experiences for employees around the globe.
What You’ll Do:
- Manage the end-to-end payroll process in EMEA, North America and Asia, balancing the demands of both outsourced providers and in-house teams.
- Review, validate, and approve payroll as prepared by the teams, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and strict adherence to local statutory requirements and company standards.
- Work with 3rd party payroll vendors and system providers, including compliance with service level agreements.
- Ensure all payroll-related tax filings are done timely and accurately. Work with tax agencies and payroll service providers to resolve tax issues.
- Assist the GL team with monthly payroll reconciliations.
- Act as the primary point of contact for payroll providers, driving service delivery, resolving escalations, and monitoring SLAs to maintain a seamless employee payroll experience.
- Manage and mentor the payroll team, providing clear direction, training, and support to ensure operational excellence and compliance in every jurisdiction.
- Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and external partners to ensure master data integrity, process improvements, and integration of payroll with broader business functions.
- Lead audits, reconciliations, and internal controls, proactively identifying and mitigating potential risks to ensure payroll integrity and security.
- Stay current with evolving employment laws, tax regulations, and payroll best practices in all relevant countries, adapting processes to maintain full compliance.
- Develop, maintain, and improve payroll processes, employment tax processes, and internal controls to preserve the quality, efficiency and overall effectiveness of all payroll functions while ensuring regulatory compliance.
What You Need to Succeed
- Extensive experience in global payroll leadership, with 8+ years managing multi-country teams and driving operational excellence.
- Demonstrated expertise overseeing both in-house and outsourced payroll operations for —including Ireland, UK, USA, Australia, Denmark, Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, France, Germany, Switzerland, Spain, Italy, and Saudi Arabia.
- Advanced knowledge of payroll tax, pension, benefits, and wage laws in the USA and Canada, as well as deep familiarity with Global compliance requirements.
- Proven track record of taking full ownership of payroll processes, implementing robust controls, and delivering value-add solutions that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and compliance.
- Highly skilled in ADP Workforce Now, Workday, Microsoft Excel, and Word, with exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data integrity.
- Expert in mentoring and leading high-performing payroll teams, setting clear standards, and empowering others to achieve collective success.
- Exceptional organisational and analytical skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet rigorous deadlines without compromising quality.
- Outstanding verbal and written communication abilities.
